Jorunn Hancke Øgstad (b. 1979) is a Norwegian artist based in Oslo, Norway. Øgstad holds an MA in Fine Art from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Working primarily with painting, Øgstad investigates the language and materiality of abstraction through a fluid interplay of spontaneous gestures, constructed layers and experimental processes. Using materials such as fabric dye, resin and plastic on unprimed canvas, she draws on and reinterprets references from abstract expressionism, pop and street art, as well as spiritual abstraction.
